"Ask The Grantbuilder":  Session 2 Mentoring Session
Tuesday, November 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Please review the following information regarding the two hands-on learning activities we will cover during the upcoming session on Tuesday, November 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.  The list of what you will need to "have" and "do" prior to the session is noted below in #3.  The Call-In information is noted in #4.

1.  HOW TO REVIEW GRANT GUIDELINES AND GRANT APPLICATIONS
We do a walk-thru of how to complete the Grant Application Review Worksheet (pages 76-77) to record information for at  least five (5)  funding sources, including:  
  • At least three (3) foundations, including Wal-Mart or Wells Fargo + two additional ones (to be presented during the session)
  • At least two (2) government grant applications (to be presented during the session)

2.  HOW TO PREPARE A "CHECK LIST" TO WRITE A GRANT
I will guide you through the step-by-step process of how to use the Grant Proposal Development Worksheet (page 83) for two of the funding sources from the exercises in #1.

3.  PREPARATION & ITEMS NEEDED

WHAT YOU NEED "TO HAVE":
You will need to have the following to participate in the "hands-on" exercises
1)  Computer (or tablet) with WiFi access
2)  At least four (4) blank copies of the 2-page Grant Application Review Worksheet (pages 76-77) - Click here to  download worksheet*
3)  At least five (5) blank copies of the 1-page Grant Proposal Development Worksheet (page 83)* - Click here to download worksheet*
*You can also use paper or other preference to record your responses to the exercises.

WHAT YOU NEED "TO DO"
1)  Read Part III of the Workbook:  Reviewing Grant Applications

2)  Logon to the website of the following two foundations that offer grants and review their application guidelines (if they have specific guidelines for California, please focus on those) :
  • Wells Fargo Foundation
  • Wal-Mart Foundation
3) Complete Exercise 5 on page 78 of the workbook for at least one grant funding source (Wells Fargo Foundation, Wal-Mart Foundation or another funding source of your choice).  NOTE:  A copy of the Grant Application Review Worksheet is attached for you to download and print.

4.  CALL-IN INFORMATION (We start promptly at 6:30pm, so please call in at least 2-3 min prior to start time)
